The season of firsts

Well Meggie did it. She completed her first day of school yesterday and loved it. The WEE (Weekday Early Education)School here in Van Alstyne is about the only place to go. Luckily I signed her up early a few months ago and relished the notion of two days a week with no little stinkers. The only problem is I feel this enormous pressure to accomplish the things I said I could do without kids. The list is endless but can only be squeezed into the next 9 months and only 1 day a week. I gotta work the other day Megan has school -bummer. So I wrote out a list(I'm big on that) and filled it with closets to clean, a website to do, pictures to organize etc. Butlooking back I left out a few things that are important as well. How about the uninterrupted lunches with friends, extra long workouts, shops with breakables at every aisle? Those are important too!! I want to watch HGTV all day and eat a bag of pretzels for lunch. I want to clean the house and have it stay that way for over an hour! But in the end I know exactly what I'll do. I'll keep peeking at the clock wondering when I can pick up the two cutest things and my biggest accomplishments from school.

Woo hoo Maureen! A blog with pictures!!! Big congrats on Meggie going to school. And I had all those same lists made last year, and pretty much nothing got accomplished. But good luck with that!

Mom returns

I'm back from a wild weekend with da' women. We had a blast in Galveston in an incredible house just a block from the beach. It was a welcomed vacation from the incessant chaos that I welcome each day. The kids seemed to have survived as well as love muffin. Although they did run out to my car to greet me as if to say Thank God you're home mom! Lessons Learned: I learned a lot about some of my mommy friends this weekend. Some of it was useful, some not-s0-useful. I learned lots of birth stories, love stories and bathroom idiosyncracies. I learned who's grossed out by bugs, chives, and most things slimy. I learned who likes to drive in the rain and who has to make potty stops because of driving in it. I learned who likes to talk about all things food. But I still don't know why American cheese isn't good for the kids. I learned that vacations are rough on the digestive tract (especially the lower regions). I learned that we all like to lay around in jammies and t shirts and welcome any opportunity to pop the bra straps at the end of the day. I learned that although we're mostly all past thirty, we can still be wearing stuff to hold our teeth strait and when you do you sound like my 2 year old with a binky in her mouth. And lastly I learned that moms, no matter where we come from or how we grew up we take care of each other and we never grow tired of birth stories and baby bragging and love stories. And I look forward every time I see my friends to learn more.
